Energy Evaluation is a “house as a system” inspection designed to educate the homeowner in the most practical, and cost effective ways to improve their homes performance in heating, cooling, moisture control, ventilation, indoor air quality and overall comfort.

A Home Energy Evaluation is specifically designed for homeowners who:

2. Who want answers as to where they can get the greatest return on investment for their home improvement dollar – before they blindly invest in costly measures such as windows or heating systems that probably will not give them the results that they are looking for.

The most critical factor in evaluating the energy performance of a home is to determine its air infiltration rate – or more commonly, how “tight” or “loose” the house is. The ONLY way to accurately determine this is by performing a blower door test on the home.

A blower door is a diagnostic tool consisting of a calibrated fan, a pressure gauge and various hoses that is set up in a exterior doorway of a home. Once set up, the blower door can either pressurize or depressurize the home to determine the following:

• How “tight” or “loose” is your home
• Locating the origin and cause of the air leaks
• Determining how much energy loss is caused by the air leakage
• Measuring duct leakage in forced air distribution systems
• Should additional mechanical ventilation be added to the home

END RESULT — All energy evaluations are concluded with the following:

1. Detailed report outlining the diagnostic and visual inspection. Report includes; health and safety, air infiltration, insulation, moisture control, mechanical ventilation and other optional improvements.
2. A detailed Work Order covering suggested improvements will be provided.
3. The option of WydeVue RES to complete the work you choose and conduct a final evaluation of your home.
